How ReviewSift Works

From product name to actionable intelligence in 30 seconds. Here's exactly what happens.

5-step pipeline·~30 seconds total·4 platforms
1

Input & Search

~2s

You enter an Amazon ASIN, product name, or URL. We resolve the product identity: for ASINs, we go directly to the Amazon product page. For product names, we search Amazon and match the highest-relevance result. We also extract the product name, brand, and category for cross-platform searches.

  • ASIN validation and product lookup
  • Fuzzy product name matching against Amazon catalog
  • Brand and category extraction for cross-platform queries
2

Multi-Platform Scraping

~15-25s

We scrape real customer reviews from up to 4 platforms simultaneously. Amazon reviews are the primary source (typically 200-500 reviews per product). Reddit, YouTube, and TikTok Shop searches run in parallel using the product name and brand.

  • Amazon: up to 500 reviews per ASIN, all star ratings, verified purchase filter
  • Reddit: relevant discussions from niche subreddits (r/BuyItForLife, category-specific)
  • YouTube: review video comments and long-form opinion text
  • TikTok Shop: product reviews from the fastest-growing commerce platform
3

AI Analysis & Clustering

~8-12s

Raw review text is processed through our analysis engine. We don't just count keywords — we use semantic clustering to group complaints by meaning. "Battery dies fast," "only lasted 3 hours," and "dead by noon" are recognized as the same complaint cluster.

  • Semantic complaint clustering (groups similar complaints regardless of wording)
  • Frequency scoring (% of negative reviews mentioning each cluster)
  • Missing feature extraction from 3-star "wish it had" reviews
  • Sentiment classification: positive, neutral, negative with confidence scores
  • Real quote selection: most representative quotes per cluster
4

Cross-Platform Synthesis

~3-5s

Reviews from all platforms are combined into a unified view. We identify patterns that only appear on specific platforms — Reddit users discuss long-term durability, YouTube reviewers catch visual/sizing issues, TikTok reviews reveal aesthetic and unboxing concerns that Amazon reviews miss.

  • Platform-specific insight extraction
  • Cross-platform complaint correlation (same issue on 3+ platforms = high confidence)
  • Platform sentiment comparison (Amazon vs Reddit sentiment gap detection)
  • Opportunity scoring: complaints × missing features × market size
5

Report Generation

~2s

The analysis is compiled into a structured report with: top complaints ranked by frequency, missing features customers request, overall sentiment breakdown, real quotes from actual buyers, and a product opportunity summary. The report is stored in your dashboard and available as PDF, CSV, or JSON.

  • Structured JSON output for API users
  • PDF export with branded layout
  • CSV export for spreadsheet analysis
  • Shareable public link generation
  • Embeddable widget for external sites

Transparency

Are these real reviews?

Yes. When reviews are available (80%+ of searches), every data point comes from real, scraped customer reviews with traceable quotes. We never fabricate review data.

When is AI synthesis used?

For niche products with fewer than 50 reviews, or when a platform search returns no results, we clearly label the analysis as "AI-synthesized" based on available signals. You always know what's real data vs. inference.

🔄

How current is the data?

Reviews are scraped at the time of report generation — they reflect the current state of the product listing, not cached data from weeks ago. Each report is a fresh scrape.

🛡

What about fake reviews?

We don't filter fake reviews ourselves (that's not our core value). But by combining Amazon with Reddit, YouTube, and TikTok — platforms where fake reviews are much harder to plant — cross-platform analysis naturally dilutes the impact of incentivized Amazon reviews.
